Well, my family has is prectising sufism but not the extreme kind where they worship graves. Just the moderate type. They follow the Naqshabandis if that helps.
I, on the other hand don't really identify with sufism and I always question their teachings because they feel very off. I could be wrong tho.
Their extreme veneration of saints/awliyah never settled well for me. I'm not saying that awliyah are not important. It's just that the extreme praise they receive doesn't seem right to me.
They also think that one can't be properly guided without a sheikh teaching him. I understand the importance of having a sheikh but claiming that the only way you can recieve guidance is through a sheikh doesn't seem right. Especially when it is Allah alone who guides the hearts of believers.
At the end of the day I'm not an expert on this but could any of you guys who are well versed with Sufism prove its authenticity?
