I added the Gaaljecel as Garjante Gardheere. @hilowlee and @BluSkee please let me know if I have this wrong.

That’s okay with me! I am learning as I go. So Gaaljecel is one of Garjante’s sons it seems.

The new brother under E-FT77328* has added his clan information as Meyle-Samaale. Welcome again!

My understanding is Gaaljecel is sub of Gardheere Samaale.

We have a new Sacad kit that ordered Big Y, and his Y-111 results are in. He did not match anyone on STRs, but based on the SAPP tool, he is expected to fall under E-FT77328. This branch is growing (y)

Weird, he lists the oldest known ancestor instead of his more relevant subclan. Is he going to upgrade to T2T?

There’s this idea Sacad descends directly from Gorgaate rather than being a Hiraab clan. I’m not sure if you have heard of it.

I’m not sure if the new guy will upgrade to T2T, but he seems engaged and will likely do it if asked

As for Sacad, they are Habargidir - Madarkicis - Hiraab - Gorgaarte. I don't know anything about the Gorgaarte story, perhaps sister @Ayan will have something to say about that.

Quick follow-up about this sample possibly fitting E-FT77328 based on the SAPP tool.

I want to be a bit more cautious about that placement now. For context, most Soomaali samples under E have DYS454 = 11. The branch in question, E-FT77328, stands out because its known samples have DYS454 = 12. That already suggests one mutation happened on this slow marker somewhere along that line. The new Sacad sample has DYS454 = 9, so if he really belongs under E-FT77328, that would mean another rare mutation within a branch that is only around 1,000 years old.

There is also another possibility. E-FT77328 is defined by 28 SNPs, and at its parent branch, it is over 3,000 years old. So he may not fall inside E-FT77328 at all. He could end up forming a new parallel branch near E-FT77328, or even turning out to belong to a different branch altogether.

So for now, I think E-FT77328 is still possible, but the SAPP placement should be treated as tentative rather than strong evidence. His Big Y results should be ready in around 2 months, and then we will have a much clearer picture of where he actually falls. If the SNP results do place him under E-FT77328, then I think his DYS454 value should also be looked at carefully, because it may be incorrect or an unusual outlier rather than normal variation for that branch.

Thanks for the updates brother @Malawax. What’s the last 3 numbers for the new Sacaad on FTDNA. I want to see if it’s a person we talk to before.

612, he is in the E-BY192465 group.

Walaal @Malawax do you know if the Meyle Samaale is on FTDNA Somali project? How have you been in contact?

Yes some people believe Sacad are Wadalaan Gorgaate.

Thank you, sister, for asking about this. I know you are not the only person who has been wondering about it, so my reply here is a general one and not directed only at you.

The Meyle Samaale sample was part of the FTDNA Somali Project for many years, but he left the project a few months ago. So this is not a new person. He was there before I joined FTDNA, and before most of the samples currently under the E-FT77328 branch.

It is also important to clarify that this is not a case of someone recently changing or inventing an identity. Even in his earlier results, when he was only a Y-37 or Y-67 sample, the same clan information was already there. In other words, this is not something that appeared only after later testing or after people started discussing him.

It is natural that people are curious and want to understand more. At the same time, I believe very strongly in protecting people’s privacy. Everyone deserves the dignity of discovering their roots in their own way, and the freedom to share only what they are comfortable sharing, at the time they choose for themselves.

This is also not something unusual. Over time, many people have contacted me through SomaliY to ask questions or share information. Those conversations remain private, because SomaliY only posts information that people have already shared publicly on places like YFull and FTDNA.

As it has become clear, I now carry a responsibility as a custodian of Somali Y-DNA information. That responsibility requires care, integrity, fairness, and respect for everyone involved. This approach has helped me earn trust within the community, and I intend to continue holding myself to a high standard, because this work demands it and because our people deserve to be treated with honor and dignity.

Thanks for clarifying brother Malawax. I know you go through a rigorous vetting process to insure this information is accurate and from publicly available sources. It’s important to me that we allow each individual space through their own journey of discovery and sharing as they wish.

As you know we have been on FTDNA for a very long time as well and there were a few samples that were on there for sometime and later decided to upgrade so it’s not unusual for these types of things.

Insha Allah to clear any doubts that come up we will provide the necessary information about the sample and connection to FTDNA in the past.

Thanks for all you do!

Update: 4 new FTDNA 37 marker samples results have come in. 1 Yiber Turyar, 3 Dhulbahante Yayha, Haruun Hayaag and Tawac Siciid. They all mostly likely will fall under E-FT24258 >E-FT18668 based on STRs and matches.

Thank you, sister, for the update, and for always contributing to this effort through testing and sharing results. Every new kit adds something and helps build a clearer picture over time.
Also, if there are any kits you are unsure about, or any that could benefit from my analysis, please let me know. I would be happy to take a closer look.

The Meyle-Samaale brother has added more clan information and is now listed as Meyle-Samaale > Xawaadle > Cali Madaxweyne.

Thank you for taking the Big Y test, and welcome to SomaliY.

We are happy to have the new sample on yfull, and even more so, SomaliY. Welcome 🎉!

You’re absolutely correct @Malawax that every sample in some form helps towards a greater understanding. And I will most def reach out if I have any questions. If there’s anything that you find interesting or you have thoughts on feel free to share as well.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

The Xawaadle brother upgraded to T2T, and the analysis has been completed. He is now placed in the E-Y264505* paragroup.
I am looking forward to the Sacad results to see if they add more definition to this branch.
