My dad told me Marehans first used to live in where we call Somaliland now bordering Isaqs and Dhulbahantes and for some unknown reason by 1700s they moved/kicked out to the Somali region of Ethiopia, after being there for a century or so the Ogadens pushed them further into the Oromo lands, according to Somali historians they inter-married and assimilated to the Oromos for another century.
By 1800 and 1900s Marehan tribes were discovered in Somali-Ethiopia border Galguduud region and Gedo, since those regions were a semi-desert the Somalis didn't care about their presence and bizzare show up in Somalia after disappearing for two centuries.
Since MSB was not even born in Somalia, the Marehans asked him to move the Marehans in Ethiopia to Somalia and let them get one region, around 1980s their mass immigration to the Somalia's volatile regions in the south was funded by the Somali government.
after the collapse of the Siad Barre regime the tribe fully became Somalis and lost their touch with the Oromo ancestors.
Since their arrival into Somalia, Marehans has been taking over small towns and kicking out the small minorities there threatening and intimidating them, their ultimate plan for the last thirty years is to capture Kismayo and JL which will give them a sea access and political power in Somalia.
I don't consider them Somalis since most of them have Oromo in them and I believe the Ethiopian/American government installed this Oromo tribe in Somalia to infiltrate among us.
Do you consider Marehan a Somali or an Ethiopian tribe seriously?
