I forgot to mention, one of the African American actors on the show is playing a Somali.

It's a good show. I didn't know he was supposed to be a Somali until he made some reference within a particular scene; the character's background is not something strongly highlighted at all throughout the season. Generally, the reason they cast random Black people is because of ease and ignorance of how diverse Africa is.

It's an interesting rule. If you cast a random African American to show a general African person below the Sahara, you will have a good phenotypical representation, but HoAs indiscriminately get included, when we clearly look different. It seems they will not, in most accounts, go out of their way to find a Somali. Another issue is availability, how many Somali uncles are there that can actually do the job properly? It requires acting experience. If they find a Somali middle-aged man who is mediocre with acting, then surely they will pick a mainly West-African derived person, who can act.

Maybe he is a Somali Bantu.:lolll:
