Born: 1924, Moshi Urban, Tanzania. In the 19th century, the Dubai of the day was Aden, a port in southern Yemen under British rule. Anyone across the British Empire could move freely so many Somalis moved to and from 🇸🇴, 🇹🇿, 🇾🇪, 🇰🇪 and 🇺🇬
Many better off Somalis sent their kids to Aden for education incl Quranic.
Abdullahi Qarshe was sent from 🇹🇿 and he met other Somali youth incl Hadrawi and Hudeidi, who past away yesterday in London due to Covid-19.
Hudeidi was born in Berbera (north 🇸🇴) in 1928, one of twins, to a young mother & a police sergeant father. At 40 days old he was carried over the Red Sea to Aden where his father worked. His nickname comes from his grandfather who sailed boats to Hodeidah,Yemen.
Hudeidi, Hadrawi and Qarshe along with others started Somali music group and became song writers. Hadrawi is the most celebrated Somali poet alive and was awarded even by the Dutch Royal Family.
Qarshe composed the Somali national anthem called "Each Nation's Flag" (is unique)
