Lancelot Pyman, British ambassador to Somalia (1961-1963) interviews PM Abdullahi Isse regarding the severing of diplomatic ties, Kenyan independence and Somalia’s opposition to the creation of the seventh Somali region. Near the end there’s a mention of Somalia giving asylum to Kikuyu refugees wanted for Mao-Mao activities

The Somali population in NFD was only about 250,000 at the time! He also mentions that the population of Somalis in Djibouti at the time numbered a mere 100,000
